Position: Staff Scientist

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Position Description

Ecosystem Services is seeking an environmental scientist candidate with relevant experience and a willingness to be an active participant in the growth of our company. Compensation will be based on the experience and qualifications of the applicant along with a competitive benefits package.

This position will support natural resource permitting, environmental report writing, and field data processing and reporting.

Our work is primarily in the mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions, and we specialize in ecological restoration, environmental banking, stormwater management, and regulatory permitting. Qualifications:

Required

  • B.S. or Technical Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related natural resource discipline

  • 1+ years of relevant experience

  • Proficiency at technical report writing
  • Proficiency at technical report writing

  • Examples of work experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Authorized to work in the U.S., possess valid driver’s license

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Section 401/404 permitting for variety of projects

  • Familiarity with surveying practices

  • Experience conducting mitigation monitoring

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • Familiarity with ArcPro (ESRI software)

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports

  • Prepare environmental permitting documents

  • Perform mitigation success monitoring and reporting

  • Assist with environmental field studies

  • Perform ArcGIS map production
