King’s Dominion Dinosaurs Alive Attraction

The services provided at the Dinosaurs Alive attraction at Paramount’s Kings Dominion in Hanover County, VA included a wetland delineation, regulatory negotiation, alternatives analysis and design/layout consultation of the attraction design based on avoidance and minimization. The staff worked collaboratively with Kings Dominion and all parties involved in the design of the Dinosaurs Alive attraction. Ecosystem Services was able to facilitate a design that avoided all impacts to existing wetlands.

An elevated boardwalk trail was constructed using open piles to traverse the wetlands, which coincided with the placement of animatronic dinosaurs within the native vegetation that further enhanced the patrons’ experience. The elevated boardwalk included lookouts, educational markers, and interactive exhibits.
