To kick off the Eastern Brook Trout Restoration Initiative, we are pleased to announce that our partner, Friends of the Rappahannock, has been awarded $193,000 from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) Small Watershed Grant Program to implement the first portion of the Kinsey Run Stream Restoration and Fish Blockage Removal Project. Two existing culverts are serving as a barrier to aquatic organism and fish passage. The culverts will be removed and replaced with a timber span bridge, which will open up over 2 miles of access to brook trout habitat. We’re thrilled the project received full funding and are ready to get started on this important work to improve critical habitat with the goal of sustaining native populations of Eastern Brook Trout.
