Melanie is an environmental scientist with more than 12 years of experience within the environmental science field. She comes to consulting after a career in academia. Melanie splits time between the Science and Design Departments to support field data collection while also assisting with design models for flooding. Melanie applies her knowledge of native plant communities to create planting plans for restored sites, where she tailors the plans for site-specific conditions to create designs that are resilient against both flooding and invasive species. Melanie leads data collection efforts for habitat, biological and chemical monitoring.
Recently, Melanie applied her background in academia to lead an educational outreach day with undergraduates at the Linville Creek Project in the Town of Broadway. Melanie taught the fundamentals of the Stream Functions Pyramid and led students in the EPA Rapid Bioassessment Protocols.
