Midlothian Turnpike Commercial Retail Site
The project had an ideal location, but still presented challenges for the developer because of site access and environmental constraints. Road frontage and access requirements from Chesterfield County mandated that the entrance to the project cross a perennial stream and associated wetlands. Ecosystem Services worked with our client and the site engineer to develop an open-bottom culvert and retaining wall to avoid and minimize impacts to aquatic resources. The result was very short permitting timeline and no compensatory mitigation costs.
Environmental Services provided were a Waters of the U.S. Delineation and Confirmation, a Nationwide 18 Permit Application, and a Resource Protection Area (RPA) Designation.
